Cacao & Ecstatic Dance

Move to express

A ceremonial dose of Cacao combined with earthy music will take you on a journey. Feel the warmth and energy of this ancient medicine and allow transformation to happen trough movement.

An alternative to Clubbing

Cacao Dance is a tribal way to go out, to be with people and to shake your body: It starts and ends before midnight, the movement is healthy for your body and your mind.

But be prepared, you may have a little cacao hangover the next day. 😉

Cacao: an ancient medicine

The magic lies in the special chemical mix of the cacao beans. Aside from phenolic compounds, they also contain caffeine and theobromine, both stimulating substances. A ceremonial dose of cacao energizes, releases happiness hormones, reduces stress and may be good for the heart.

Some call cacao “a natural good mood enhancer”. 😉

How does it work?

Bring some comfortable clothes and a water bottle. You will dance barefoot or with your socks.

When you arrive, the scenery is already set up. Get a moment for introflection and come down.

The cacao dance begins with a lean opening circle with some words about the cacao and a brief meditation. Then we drink the cacao. You will get lifted up by the music, the effect of the medicine and the vibration of the people around you.

The journey goes through different states of energy, landing softly in the end. The total time the music plays is around 3 hours.

There are some guidelines to keep the space safe and open. So you can fully express yourself to make this cacao dance an event with awareness. It is a journey without words, there is plenty of time to talk around the fire.

The idea is to feel the tribal force of the cacao. So alcohol belongs to bars and clubs, but not to this event.

Let go and dance as if nobody is watching. It is a safe space. At the same time, respect the other peoples boundaries and the solo dancers.

Cacao Betulia

During our cacao dances, we work with Cacao Betulia: a special and rare variety from Colombia. This cacao is produced by the Swiss-Colombian Family Veléz from Richterswil. Cacao Betulia is produced fair trade and organically.

The flowers and the beans of cacao Betulia are white to bright. The fine aroma and the tasteful chocolate have already been acclaimed and rewarded with several prices.
